Why are golf and snooker classified as sports?

They require concentration and skill, but they are not really sports. I see them more as activities and not sports. Does it give an activity more credibility if it’s called a sport?

because they are competitive, and the take pratice and hardwork and thats what a sport is

If baseball is a sport so is golf only more so. A professional golfer only makes money if he makers the cut. A professional baseball player gets paid even if his team loses. This applies to football, soccer .etc

the only reason it is called a sport is to keep the excuse that cheerleading is not a sport
